Christmas and the Elaborate Fable

Based on  John 1:12-14 Christmas and the Elaborate Fable  is a reflection on how we celebrate Christmas. It is December again, that time of the year when people prepare to celebrate Christmas. Each year serious believers in Jesus Christ ask the question, what are we celebrating? This is an important question because it is so easy to fall into the trap of tradition without knowing, especially Christless tradition.

For the unbeliever there is no need to ask any question about the festival, they just celebrate and if you ask they tell you that Christmas is about kids receiving lots of gifts, Christmas dinner with family and friends, and about shopping. They say it is a family tradition and it is also about stressful time. While all of these are necessary aspects of the celebration, they should not be reason because celebrating Christmas without Jesus Christ at the centre is like celebrating a person’s birthday party in his absence.  It is my hope and prayer that in listening to this podcast you will find Christ in the Mass, by taking out the Elaborate Fable that becloud its glory. Shalom!

Michael Angley Ogwuche

Since 1987, the Reverend Michael Angley Ogwuche has been actively preaching the Gospel. He firmly believes that his primary calling to preach and write comes from God's grace. Michael is an ardent advocate for social justice, displaying a genuine interest in fairness for all. He regards the Bible as the infallible Word of God, an invaluable and essential tool for navigating life on this planet. Additionally, he firmly holds the belief that the Gospel of Jesus Christ should not be limited in any way, but rather should be proclaimed through various platforms, including podcasts (Isaiah 61:1). To accomplish this, Michael strives to breathe life into the ancient teachings of the Bible, ensuring that they are comprehensible in the present era. With extensive ministerial training and experience, Michael is a resolute and mission-oriented minister. He has served as a Street Evangelist, Director of Bible Correspondence Courses, a Pentecostal pastor, and an R&R Methodist presbyter in Africa and the UK. However, in recent times, you can find Michael ministering as a chaplain, offering spiritual support and guidance to the sick in hospital wards and inmates in prison cells.
